Billed as a “deliberative polity-making event”, thousands of Europeans are forecast to participate in “EuroPolis“. The project, which is based on Dr. Jim Fishkin’s Deliberative Poll, will involve telephone surveys of thousands with a preselected, statistically-representative group of 400 Europeans meeting in Brussels on May 29-31.
Fishkin’s Deliberative Poll is a public engagement technique that involves small and large group discussions with peers and experts around particular policy issues. For EuroPolis the issues will range from immigration to climate change.
As you may know, Fishkin conducted a Deliberative Poll here in California as part of Threshold 2008 - a county-wide civic engagement project sponsored in part by Common Sense California.
